Pipe Freezing in Action
Waters Mechanical, Inc. is in the business of solving piping problems for many different types of systems in commercial buildings and other similar applications.  When the system is in operation and needs modification and/or repairs WMI can get the job done with minimal down time using our pipe freezing process.

Our aluminum freeze jackets utilize liquid nitrogen and allow us to isolate pumps, valves, and equipment by forming an ice plug in the existing pipe.  We then hold the plug while the new valve (or any item) is replaced, repaired, or modified.

We have used this system to isolate chilled water systems, condenser water systems, glycol systems, domestic cold/hot water piping, fuel oil, and fire sprinkler lines.

To give you an idea how fast we can obtain a freeze plug; an eight inch chilled water line can be frozen in as little as 35 minutes.  To date our largest pipe freeze was on a glycol system and was 24" nominal pipe size.  Larger sizes are available upon request.  NOTE: It is required that flow within the line be static in order for an ice plug to be obtained.  Once the plug is in place operation of the system can resume while the repair or modification work is takes place.  Please see our customer information page.

For further information please contact us.  Better yet, complete our Freeze Questionnaire and email or fax it to us for job costing.
